Mission Statement

The Wilkes-Barre Metro Film Office is dedicated to attracting film productions to Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding areas to boost local businesses and create job opportunities. We provide incentives and support to both major studios and independent filmmakers to encourage them to choose Wilkes-Barre as their filming location. Our mission is to promote educational programs and workshops that inspire and educate future generations about the art and business of filmmaking.

We celebrate and promote the contributions of Wilkes-Barre natives like Joseph L. Mankiewicz, Jack Palance, and Lyman H. Howe to the film industry. By organizing events, screenings, and festivals, we highlight the rich history of film production in Wilkes-Barre and involve the local community in film-related activities and initiatives to foster a deeper appreciation for the film industry.

We work closely with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and other statewide film offices to streamline processes and provide comprehensive support to film projects. Additionally, we build strong relationships with industry professionals, including producers, directors, writers, and actors, to promote Wilkes-Barre as a premier filming destination. By engaging with stakeholders and the local community, we aim to make Wilkes-Barre a vibrant hub for film production and a beacon for cinematic creativity.
